InteracTag - Interactive Installation

by Pasquale Direse (Aka Visualpaco)

At Brancaleone, an ex-squat and today a multicultural music club in Roma I performed 3 media installations: an interactive transparent tag-wall (entrance of the space) based on the drammaturgy by Fabrizio Palasciano; a video-sound interactive installation, InteracTag (inside the garden of the space); an audio installation with an hypermediapunk poem (actually an hyperpoem as an hypertext reported to all the happenings around "Happy New Hear" ) by Fabrizio Palasciano and read by who's writing.

The transparent tag-wall at the entrance I made using opengl stuff in MaxJitter and some OSC communication between Max and Garage Band. The interaction by the people was working basing on a camera tracking by one camera into a window on the right of the ramp of the entrance: when the people went through the range of the camera the transaparent tent was responding moving the words in a fluid 3D shaping and piano notes as sound reaction.
InteracTag was a 3D world based on some of the contents reported to the projects of Performing media Lab Roma. This I made by MaxJitter opengl togheter with Ableton Live and Max4Live. The sphere moved and rounded by the movement of the people in front of the camera at the center of the stage had on its face 5 maps of the City where we acted in the past as Performing media Lab. The people moving was also producing a real-time electronic sound. Behind the sphere a 3D surface was transforming the shape of the people playng with the installation in a 3D hystogram made by tags increasing its dimension in base of the audio frequencies captured by a microphone. And still behind a big hear designing and then exploding or the flyer of the event.

And what about the pandas???
They were waiting in the streets of Roma for a caravan of cars guided with radio tuned on Radio Popolare Roma to be dropped by the people of the "radio raid". The route of the cars coming to Brancaleone was designing the shape of an ear on a google map by a gps tracking system.
